This post is sponsored by Zappos. All text and opinions are my own.

In case you missed the memo… it’s officially fall!

YAY! This is my favorite season of the year, but it also comes with its own set of challenges — especially when it comes to staying on top of your fitness routine.

From pumpkin spice everything to holiday parties and unfavorable weather for the latter half of the year, these fall and winter seasons can really put a stick in some people’s fitness gears.

To help you out with that, today I’m outlining my fall essentials. I’ve compiled my TOP 4 Fitness Tips for Cold Weather below, so feel free to leave your tips and tricks in the comments too!

I want to hear what helps you stay on track when it starts to get so tempting to just cozy up with a warm blanket and skip your workouts…

Share your tips and tricks and let’s get the convo going!

Liz

TIP #1

Invest in home gym equipment!

Over the years, I’ve stocked UP on not just home gym equipment, but also fitness clothes galore. I find that having an arsenal of activewear and gear you can switch between really helps you stay motivated, especially when it’s too cold to go outside.

I personally LOVE my medicine ball, my set of home weights, a variety of yoga mats, resistance bands and more. I also have a few lacrosse balls on hand, a foam roller, a rolling pin (believe it or not) and more for myofascial release.

Recovery training is just as important as resistance training to keep your body healthy and active, so invest in both.

TIP #2

Go into the colder season with a PLAN!

You will NOT catch me entering the dreaded winter months without some sort of scheduled routine of specific workouts to do each week.

When I became a NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer, I learned how to properly write up effective plans for all activity levels and body types, including my own! It’s been one of the most essential pieces of knowledge I’ve ever gifted myself.

If you’re not sure where to start, consult a certified trainer to help you write up your own plan. You can also check out the MANY home workout videos we’ve made that are available to you over on YouTube for free.

Whatever you do, don’t go into the cold fall and winter months without a plan! There’s an old saying:

“Fail to plan, plan to fail.”

Not you! You’re going to be prepared, because you know your health and fitness is an absolute priority — 365 days a year.

TIP #3

Invest in the proper outdoor clothing and gear.

Patterned leggings: Smartwool from Zappos.com

Believe me, I am just like you! I don’t love going outside when it’s cold either…

But I stumbled across Smartwool on Zappos.com about 6 years ago and I’ve never looked back.

If you haven’t tried Smartwool leggings yet, you NEED some in your life. It makes it so much easier to #StepIntoComfort during the fall and winter months.

The reason this material is so awesome is because it wicks away sweat, meaning you won’t be wet or have workout odors lingering for hours. It’s also very breathable and designed to keep you warm without being overly heavy.

I first learned about this Smartwool when I decided to go travel abroad for several months; I knew I wouldn’t be able to pack heavily, so it seemed like the best option! I could bring just a few of these tops and be prepared for all weather.

You can get your own here.

TIP #4

Fit your workouts in first thing in the morning.

If you’re anything like me, if you don’t squeeze your workout in right away, it can get lost in the shuffle.

My last tip (and probably most important tip) is to just get up and get it done! Wake up early if you need to. Do whatever it takes.

If you try to “find time,” you never will. But if you make it an absolute priority to get your fitness routine handled first thing out of bed, you will be amazed at the results it brings not just to your life, but to your entire state of being!

You’ll feel more accomplished, you’ll get more done and you’ll have more energy throughout the entire rest of the day if you just get up and get moving.

So what are you waiting for?

Let’s go! 🙂
